Chaos erupts as the woman who was dubbed as ‘America’s worst mayor’ vetoed plans to have Lori Lightfoot investigate her alleged corrupt finance allegations. The ‘worst mayor’ is Tiffany Henyard, the Mayor of Dolton, and people wanted her finances investigated based on allegations she was using the money in ways she shouldn’t be.
Former Mayor Lori Lightfoot was going to be paid $400 an hour to do the investigation, but Henyard basically said “oh hell naw” and vetoed it herself. Actually, she really said “how dare you” – but what’s really the difference here, right? Daily Mail had some more details on the investigation into Henyard that just got vetoed:
The city council meeting was met with extra police security and protests over Henyard’s recent controversies, and was the first since federal investigators served subpoenas on city hall. The subpoenas are seeking documents from Henyard and Dolton Village Administrator Keith Freeman related to expenses reimbursements and trips allegedly paid for by the city.
After trustees voted to hire Lightfoot – a former prosecutor – for $400 an hour to investigate, Henyard rejected the move, telling the city council meeting: ‘You know, it’s veto power, so how dare you think you can come into someone’s town and do work.’ ‘There is a right way to do things, and this is just not that,’ she said. ‘(Lightfoot) will not be paid for her services.’
Imagine vetoing an investigation into yourself. That doesn’t scream SHADY at all, does it?
