Navy Vet attacked while walking dog in Philly, thankful for the 'good people' who helped him

A Navy veteran was attacked, robbed, and hospitalized when he was walking his dog in Philly. NBC10 reported on what happened and the one thing that was lost, but had more value than anything else in the victim's wallet. That report said:

Scott Harris, 62, told NBC10 he was walking his dog near his home on Jefferson and North 30th streets on Saturday at 11:50 p.m.

Harris said he noticed a large gathering that was occurring at the time.

"That night on Saturday, there was a huge party going on over here," he said. "A little bit out of control but nothing terribly concerning to me. Next thing you know, I'm in the emergency room getting stitches."

Police said at least one person attacked Harris, knocking him unconscious and stealing his wallet. Harris told NBC10 he has no memory of the attack. He also said there was no cash inside his wallet. Instead, it was holding something that was more valuable than money.

"Sadly, only thing I really cared about in that wallet was my mother's driver's license," he said. "She passed about 10 years ago. That's kind of how I kept her close and now I don't even have that."

Despite being attacked and robbed, Harris was able to find the one hopeful moment of the story. A group of people helped him after the attack and Harris was thankful of that, saying "Thank God, you know, there are good people," Harris said. "And maybe they're mixed up with some people that aren't so nice. And they just saw a human being in need and brought me back safely."
