Marjorie Taylor Greene got bad news when a judge ruled that a lawsuit, pushed by Democrats, trying to remove the outspoken Republican from the ballot for her reelection can proceed.<br \/>\nThe lawsuit seeks to block MTG from seeking reelection under the allegation that she is unfit for office because some of her supporters may have participated in the Jan 6 insurrection.<br \/>\nThis legal challenge was filed with the Georgia Secretary of State by a group of voters who claim Greene had actually violated a provision in the US Constitution that was passed well after the Civil War. It goes by the name of &#8220;Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"Raw-slyvem-0 bCYKCn\">\nIn a legal challenge filed with the Georgia Secretary of State, a group of voters claimed Greene violated a provision of the U.S. Constitution passed after the U.S. Civil War known as the &#8220;Insurrectionist Disqualification Clause.&#8221;<br \/>\nGreene wanted an injunction against the lawsuit, saying it wouldn&#8217;t be resolved in time for the primary elections of Georgia which will be on May 24. The judge disagreed and said the lawsuit should proceed.<br \/>\nAs stated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/top-news\/articles\/2022-04-18\/lawsuit-challenging-marjorie-taylor-greene-reelection-can-proceed-judge-rules\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US News<\/a>: &#8220;<em>Judge Amy Totenberg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia wrote in a 73-page ruling on the injunction that the court focused on whether Greene could &#8220;establish a strong likelihood of prevailing on the merits of her legal claims.&#8221; Greene had failed &#8220;to establish a substantial likelihood of success on the merits,&#8221; Totenberg wrote.<\/em>&#8221;<br \/>\nGreene is now responsible for her defense in the lawsuit and it remains unclear which direction this will go and if it could possibly knock her out of reelection.\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"Raw-slyvem-0 bCYKCn\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Rep.
