Newt Gingrich issues warning to Republicans, something they should take seriously

Republican leaders were called on by Newt Gingrich, a former Speaker of the House, to stop underestimating President Joe Biden. Gingrich warned that the failure to do so could cost the GOP more elections. Gingrich noted on his blog, when reflecting on the disappointing show for Republicans in the midterms, that despite Biden’s “terrible mismanagement of the economy”, he had one of the best off-year election results in history.

This is what Gingrich wrote on his blog: “Despite terrible problems with the economy, crime, and the border (which led many analysts, me included, to assume the GOP would make big gains in November) Biden and his team executed a strategy of polarizing Americans against Donald Trump supporters. They turned Jan. 6 into a crisis which eclipsed the Left’s previous summer of fire, chaos, and destruction. They also grossly exaggerated the threat to abortion rights. And it all worked,” said Daily Caller.

“He has only built upon and fortified the left-wing Big Government Socialist woke culture system,” Gingrich explained, while also saying that Biden’s policies are weakening America and strengthening her enemies. But focusing on Biden’s failures and weaknesses, like his speaking difficulties, blinds conservatives to how effective Biden has been on his terms, Gingrich argued. “Our aversion to him and his policies makes us underestimate him and the Democrats,” added Gingrich.

Stating that there is “not nearly enough understanding or acknowledgment” from current GOP leaders that they did fail, Gingrich seemed to attribute the failure of 2022 to current Republican leadership. He warns that it is something that creates a bigger challenge to 2024 than he would have thought possible before the midterm elections.

“If Republicans are going to successfully work through the next two years in the Congress – and win the presidency in 2024 – we need to look much more deeply at what worked and what did not work in 2020 and 2022,” warned Gingrich, adding that “we need to rethink from the ground up how we are going to Defeat Big Government Socialism – including almost inevitable second-time Democrat Presidential Nominee Biden.”
