Mary's Place has announced that Amazon will donate more than 47,000 sq. ft.of space within their new headquarters building in Seattle to help homeless women, children and families. Homeless families will be able to use one of the 65 rooms that they plan on creating as a permanent residence to give them shelter and a safe place to live. It is estimated that these 65 rooms will home more than 200 women, children and families who are homeless and have no safe place to live.

Not only will there be rooms provided for the homeless families, but there will also be a resource center much like the one already at Mary's Place. Amazon employees already volunteer at the existing shelter and they will bring their volunteer work to the new facility once everything is ready.

Things such as parties, bringing meals, and organizing arts and crafts are some of the fun or helpful things they do as volunteers. This is a partnership that will be the first of it's kind and and will help many homeless families.

Amazon employers and residents of Mary's Place will be able to move in as early as 2020.

Mary's Place announced today that Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) will donate more than 47,000 sq. ft. of space within Amazon’s newest headquarters building as a permanent home for a Mary's Place Family Shelter. This first-of-its-kind partnership will include 65 rooms, which will shelter more than 200 homeless women, children, and families each night.

“Mary’s Place does incredible, life-saving work every day for women, children, and families experiencing homelessness in the Seattle community,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO. “We are lucky to count them as neighbors and thrilled to offer them a permanent home within our downtown Seattle headquarters – Amazon employees and Mary’s Place residents will move in together in early 2020.”

This is absolutely amazing news coming in from Seattle. We see so many women, children and families end up out on the street with no safe place to go and no way to get themselves back on track.

With the rooms that Amazon will be providing in their new headquarters in Seattle, they will be able to home so many families that are in need and hopefully help families get back on their feet again. That's the most important aspect - getting people back to their own homes, jobs, etc.

People who become homeless often give up hope and stay on the streets. Something like this gives those families the second chance they need. It gives them safety and reassurance and allows them to pick themselves back up without the stress that comes with being homeless.

This project is more than just a room to stay in.

A partnership between Mary's Place and Amazon is definitely what they say it is, it's one of a kind and it's an amazing project. Having two companies work together to create something that helps out those most in need is beautiful to see.

Something like this has the potential to trigger the openings of so many other shelters in other cities provided that it's a success.

No matter where you look, you will always find a family who is homeless and struggling. If something like this were to take off in more places than Seattle, then we could reduce the amount of homeless families within just a few years.

I think that this could be the start of something amazing and that may reduce the number of homeless people.

What are your thoughts on this partnership between Mary's Place and Amazon? Do you think it has the potential for other's to want to help out in a similar way?

Could this help with the amount of homeless families there are in the world?
